FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything You Need to Know
About Studying Abroad

Have questions about studying abroad from Nepal? Our expert counselors at KEC Education have answered the most common questions to help you make informed decisions about your international education journey.

General Questions

  • Which countries does KEC Education provide counseling for?

KEC Education provides expert counseling for students planning to study in Australia, UK, Canada, USA, New Zealand, and other destinations. We evaluate your profile and recommend the best-fit country based on your academic background, budget, and career goals.

  • What are the minimum academic requirements to study abroad?

Requirements vary by country and level. Generally, a minimum GPA of 2.0–2.5 (55–60%) is required for Diploma and Bachelor programs, while Master's programs typically require 2.5–3.0+. Higher-ranked universities have stricter requirements. KEC Education will assess your profile and recommend suitable institutions.

  • Do I need IELTS to study abroad?

Most countries require proof of English proficiency. IELTS Academic with an overall score of 6.0–6.5 is the most widely accepted. PTE Academic and Duolingo are also accepted by many institutions. In limited cases, a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter may be accepted, but IELTS significantly strengthens your visa application.

  • How long does the entire application and visa process take?

The process typically takes 3–6 months from profile assessment to visa grant — including selecting a university, receiving an offer letter, preparing financial documents, and submitting the visa application. KEC Education guides you through every step to avoid delays.

  • Can I work while studying abroad?

Yes. Most study destinations allow part-time work during studies. Australia allows 48 hours per fortnight, while UK, Canada, and New Zealand allow 20 hours per week during study periods and full-time during scheduled breaks. Work supports living expenses, not tuition fees.

  • Are scholarships available for Nepali students?

Yes. Partial scholarships ranging from 10–50% tuition reduction are available at many universities in Australia, UK, Canada, and New Zealand based on academic merit. Scholarships improve affordability but do not cover living costs or replace financial proof required for student visas.

Study Abroad & Visa

  • Which country is best for post-study work opportunities?

Australia offers 2–4 years, Canada up to 3 years (PGWP), New Zealand up to 3 years, UK 2 years, and USA up to 3 years for STEM graduates (OPT). The best choice depends on your course, career goals, and long-term plans. KEC Education helps you evaluate all options.

  • What is the cost of studying abroad from Nepal?

Tuition fees range from NPR 14–32 lakh per year depending on the country, level, and institution. Living costs add approximately NPR 18–22 lakh per year. Australia and New Zealand tend to have higher living costs, while Canada and UK can be more affordable depending on the city.

  • What is a Genuine Student (GS) requirement?

The Genuine Student requirement is an assessment used by countries like Australia to verify that you are applying for a student visa with a genuine intention to study. It evaluates your academic history, English proficiency, career goals, and ties to Nepal. A well-prepared GS statement significantly strengthens your visa application.

  • How does KEC Education help with the visa application?

KEC Education provides complete visa documentation support including SOP writing, financial document preparation, offer letter guidance, and visa submission assistance. Our counselors are experienced with visa requirements for Australia (Subclass 500), UK, Canada, USA (F-1), and New Zealand student visas.

  • What intakes are available for international students?

Major intakes are February/July for Australia and New Zealand, September/January for UK and Canada, and Fall (August/September) for USA. September and February intakes generally carry the highest visa credibility and course availability. KEC Education advises on the best intake based on your readiness.

  • Can average academic students study abroad?

Yes. Many students with average academics (55–70%) successfully study abroad through foundation programs, college pathways, or diploma routes. The key is clear academic progression and a logical study plan. KEC Education evaluates your profile and identifies realistic, visa-safe options suited to your background.
